WR “First Things First” Mods

WR “First Things First” Mods

Here’s the things I did first to my ’08 WR250R.

Remove Side Stand Kill Switch

Ricochet Skid Plate

Ordered this skid plate from Dual Sport Armory, don’t forget the WR discount code!  I added pieces of an old inner tube under the skid plate to alleviate noise from the plate against the frame, works real well!  I’ve had no problems at all and fit perfectly.

Cycra Probend Handguards w/Triple Clamp Side Mounts

Also got these from Dual Sport Armory with triple clamp side mounts to save handlebar real estate.  Had to slightly heat them up and bend them like BigDog recommended.  Love the looks and strength of these guards.

ProMoto Billet Rear Rack

I ordered this from eBay Seismic Cycles with no issues, great price & fast shipping. After installing this rack, I like it even more!  Its well machined, light-weight and I think looks great following the lines of the fender.  Unless I can get a Safari Tank I’ll probably mount up a Rotopax with a mount similar to this:

Next thing I highly recommend is some Wolfman bags!  See my review of my Wolfman bags.

What type of handle bar are you using, and why did you change the handle bar in the first place?

Also…I see that you’ve removed the sprocket and chain guard…any reason why!

I really like your site and the good you bring to our WR community!

    Thanks,

      Benny,
Yea, I changed my bars to 1-1/8″ bars because they are stronger and I prefer the setup of them, they are ProTaper EVO Henry/Reed bars. Also, I did this because I was replacing my top/bottom clamps to HighwayDirtbikes clamps so needed to go up from 7/8″ stock bars to 1-1/8″ bars for strength. I don’t want to be out on the trail and drop my bike to find I have bent the bars. These bars are super strong and with the added protection of my Cycra handguard setup, they are even stronger!

I have not remove the sprocket & chain guard… maybe you saw my bike when I was cleaning it? I do take them off for cleaning or maintenance. I run the Sandman Case Saver kit for the front case and sprocket guard. and have the stock chain guard in the back.

Thanks for the kind words about my website! More to come when it gets warm out again!
